The Masela Block Project Can not Start

The government decided to implement the Pre-Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of the Masela Block project in one stage. This decision is different from the request of Inpex Corporation, operator of the Masela Block project, which wants Pre-FEED to be conducted in two stages.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR), Arcandra Tahar said, Pre-FEED should be done only one stage. "Pre-FEED one step, no two step, and in the world there is no pre-FEED two step," said Arcandra, Monday (29/5).

Arcandra stated that the government is still discussing options for production capacity to be included in the Pre-FEED. So far, the government wants Inpex to conduct Pre-FEED for two production capacity options, namely 9.5 million tons per annum (MTPA) capacity plus 150 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and 7.5 MTPA plus 474 mmscfd.

Meanwhile for the location, Arcandra says it will be specified in Pre-FEED. "It's part of Pre-FEED, if it's comprehensive I'll tell you," said Arcandra. So far, the government asked Inpex to conduct Pre-FEED in two locations, namely in Aru Island and Yamdena Island. 

     However, later ESDM Minister Ignatius Jonan said there will be three locations that will be included in the Pre-FEED Masala Block. Jonan did not mention any island in Maluku Province that will be included in the Pre-FEED.

Proyek Blok Masela Belum Bisa Dimulai

Pemerintah memutuskan pelaksanaan Pre-Front End Engineering Design (FEED) proyek Blok Masela dalam satu tahap. Keputusan ini berbeda dengan permintaan Inpex Corporation, operator proyek Blok Masela, yang menginginkan Pre-FEED bisa dilakukan dua tahap.

Wakil Menteri Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral (ESDM), Arcandra Tahar mengatakan, Pre-FEED memang seharusnya dilakukan hanya satu tahap. "Pre-FEED satu step. Tidak ada dua step. Dan di dunia juga tidak ada pre-FEED dua step," kata Arcandra, Senin (29/5).

Arcandra menyatakan bahwa pemerintah masih membahas opsi untuk kapasitas produksi yang akan masuk dalam Pre-FEED tersebut. Selama ini pemerintah ingin Inpex melakukan Pre-FEED untuk dua opsi kapasitas produksi yaitu kapasitas 9,5 million tons per annum (MTPA) plus 150 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) dan 7,5 MTPA plus 474 mmscfd.

Sementara itu untuk lokasi, Arcandra bilang akan ditentukan dalam Pre-FEED. "Itu bagian dari Pre-FEED. Kalau sudah komprehensif saya beri tahu," kata Arcandra. Selama ini pemerintah meminta Inpex agar melakukan Pre-FEED di dua lokasi yaitu di Pulau Aru dan Pulau Yamdena. 

     Namun belakangan Menteri ESDM Ignasius Jonan menyebutkan akan ada tiga lokasi yang akan masuk dalam Pre-FEED Blok Masala. Jonan tidak menyebutkan pulau mana saja di Provinsi Maluku yang akan masuk dalam Pre- FEED tersebut.
