The Bojonegoro Regency Government conducted a public awareness campaign to regulate oil well mining in Wonocolo, Kedewan District, yesterday. The campaign involved the Bojonegoro Military District Command and the Bojonegoro Police. Agus Supriyanto, Head of the Bojonegoro Regency Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Agency, stated that the oil mining enforcement campaign is being carried out not only in Bojonegoro but also in four other provinces in Indonesia, including Sumatra. He emphasized that no enforcement action will be necessary if the miners comply with regulations and respect the environment.
Oil Well Old Filed
The purpose of this cleanup is to organize and manage the area to improve the welfare of residents in Kedewan District. Previously, these old wells had been enjoyed by investors from outside the district. These old oil wells should have been managed by local residents to ensure the welfare of the Kedewan residents. Currently, it is buyers from outside the region who are benefiting from the old wells, both investors and traditional buyers. Agus explained that the meeting also included training needed by the miners, including ensuring that their mining activities comply with regulations and ensure environmentally friendly refining practices.
traditional buyers
Elza Deba Agustina, Head of the Bojonegoro Regency Environmental Agency (BLH), stated that environmentally unfriendly mining activities will result in environmental damage. Initially, only 275 wells were officially registered, but the number of wells in the field has now reached over 700. Meanwhile, one oil prospector stated that the main problem miners face is capital, forcing them to partner with other parties, particularly wealthy investors.
The capital owners are some from the surrounding area and some from outside Bojonegoro. He explained that the oil produced is sold to Pertamina, but over time, the price of oil from Pertamina has been very low compared to the prices offered by other parties. This has forced many miners to sell their oil outside Pertamina. The price Pertamina offers miners is Rp 1.6 million to Rp 1.8 million for every 1,000 liters of crude oil. If the oil goes to a refiner or is processed independently, the price reaches Rp 2.4 million per 1,000 liters. We hope that the oil should be sold to Pertamina at a fair and higher price, so it is not refined.
